Since 2012, husband and wife team Norman and Jill Matthews have been working together, side by side, serving the Slate Belt community delicious creamery delights, burgers, hot-dogs, homemade chili and more. Dinky’s Ice Cream Parlor prides themselves on a quality product and a fun family atmosphere. In the Spring of 2019, the family owned and operated business decided to open a second location in Bethlehem Pennsylvania and they celebrated their opening June 22, 2020.
Just an Idea…
Owning an Ice Cream Parlor was a dream of Norman’s (aka Mr. Dinky) from a young age. Due to a severe back injury from truck driving, Norman changed gears and made his childhood dream a reality. His wife, former school teacher Jill, gave him a book labeled “Norm’s Ideas”. There he wrote down several ideas of what he wanted to do and to no surprise… an ice cream shop was at the top of his list.
It’s All About the Name…
The nickname Dinky was given to Norman by his father at a young age. Growing up, his friends knew him as Dink or Dinky. Mr. Dinky also has a love for classic cars and the 50’s era. He incorporated these passions into a theme for his ice cream shop. So with a heavy heart, Norman decided to sell his ’57 Chevy Bel Air to start the first 50’s themed Dinky’s Ice Cream Parlor in Bangor, PA in 2012.
Mr. Dinky and his wife Jill (aka Mama Dink) have worked hard the past 8 years as owners and managers to make their business successful and to provide the community with delicious eats and treats. Dinky’s Ice Cream Parlor & Grill is truly an experience “where you always leave with a smile”.

The entire Matthews family and Dinky’s staff look forward to serving you!
